Legal Grind: Advice at a Discount for Those Who Cannot Afford a Lawyer

The Community Justice Clinic at the University of Maryland School of Law has recently implemented a program called "Legal Grind," where weekly brief legal advice sessions are held in various neighborhoods throughout Baltimore. At $10 per 30 minute session, the goal of these sessions is to provide brief legal advice to people who may not qualify for legal aid, but cannot afford to hire a private attorney. The sessions are run by clinic students/faculty, and legal advice is provided by volunteer attorneys. The clinic is currently looking for enthusiastic attorneys who are willing to volunteer their time at these sessions. We are not necessarily looking for attorneys with particular areas of expertise, as most of our sessions involve consultations on a wide variety of legal matters (with the exception of Cherry Hill Senior Center where we plan to focus on healthcare law/living wills). Rather, we are looking for attorneys who are dedicated to serving this under-represented market and are interested in mentoring and developing student attorneys in these brief advice sessions. If you are interested in volunteering at any of the sessions below, or would like more information, please contact Janet Price at (410) 706 - 4085. The following is a list of our scheduled sessions for March, April, and May:
